A linear actuator is an electrical device that uses a rotary movement of a spindle shaft, driven by an electric motor with gearbox or angular gearbox, to convert a rotary movement into an axial travelling movement by means of a slider. By changing the direction of rotation of the spindle, the follower changes its position. The follower moves back and forth on the spindle. A hollow shaft sits on the follower, which travels with it and can then move a load or a joint mechanism. The linear actuator can be fastened in a mechanism and perform its work using fastening eyes.
How the electric linear actuator is operated
The electric linear actuator can be operated using a remote switch. Linear actuators are often used in machines or power stations. In power stations, for example, high-voltage switches are switched, which are under very high voltage. A person would not be able to switch this on their own, as they would immediately suffer a fatal electric shock from a lightning strike if they were too close to the mains. This is exactly what linear drives are for. It is very easy to initiate the switching process of the linear actuator from the control centre.
