Structure of an electric desk drive
A desk drive consists of two single or multiple telescopic motors. These move apart like a "telescope" and use this movement to raise the desk. The electric table drive is screwed to the table base at the top and directly to the feet or runners of the table at the bottom. In the desk drive, an electric drive with angular gear ensures that a drive spindle rotates and pushes a driver up or down depending on the direction of rotation. The driver can also be a tube located around the spindle, which has a component on the underside that is similar to a threaded nut. This threaded nut (follower) runs up and down on the spindle. Internal limit switches tell the table drive when the internal end points have been reached. When the internal end points are reached, the table drive control unit receives a signal and switches off the electric motor. The electric motor can then only rotate in the opposite direction. Some manufacturers also offer additional programmability of the end points. In this case, you can programme certain end points at a defined height using an app or software and the electric table drive then stops at these programmed positions.
To raise a table electrically, you always need 2 drives, as most tables also have two table legs. Once you have fitted the electric table drive, connect the motor cables to the motor control unit. Also connect the wired handset to the remote control input of the table drive control. Finally, connect the control unit to the mains using the mains cable and the electric table drive is ready for operation.
