How do you control a linear motor?

A linear motor can be operated with an upstream control unit and a connected remote control, wired handset, potential-free contacts or a modern room control system. Some manufacturers of linear motors also offer a smartphone-based control or operator app. This allows the linear motor to be operated using a mobile phone or tablet.
What voltage does a linear motor need?
Many linear motors only run with an upstream control unit, which regulates the 230 V mains voltage down to 12 V or 24 V. This is done by the control unit's internal switching power supply. You cannot connect a linear motor directly to 230 V unless the manufacturer has produced a 230 V version of the linear motor.
