How does an electric linear actuator work?
An electric linear actuator can be operated with an upstream control unit with 230 V mains voltage. The linear actuator itself has between 12 V-24 V-36 V. The control unit determines the direction of rotation of the internal motorised spindle. Depending on the direction of rotation of the spindle, the electric linear actuator moves up or down.
Structure of electric linear actuator
The structure of an electric linear actuator is explained from the inside out: The actuator housing contains a powerful electric geared motor. A spindle is flange-mounted to this motor. Depending on the circuit, the electric motor rotates clockwise or anti-clockwise. The linear actuator housing is usually made of anodised aluminium or high-quality powder-coated steel. There can be various mounting options on the outside of the drive columns. There are often threaded holes on the end faces to attach the linear actuator. Depending on the manufacturer, motor cables, which are connected to the control unit, are included or must be purchased separately as accessories.
Control
The electric linear actuator can be controlled by radio remote control, wired manual switch or also by APP (Linak) or also by room control using potential-free contacts.
Performance data
An electric linear actuator has different lifting capacities depending on the threaded spindle pitch and column structure. If the threaded spindle is very flat, the linear actuator runs slowly but has a lot of power. If the lead screw pitch is steep, the actuator runs fast. Depending on the manufacturer, we offer lifting forces from 500 N (50 kg) to 8,000 N (800 kg).

Electric heavy-duty lifting drive
We offer heavy-duty lifting drives for special applications. You can move loads of up to 8000 N (800 kg) in double operation with the heavy-duty lifting drives. In single operation, we have heavy-duty linear actuators that can lift 4000 N (400 kg).
